Bike Check: Upgraded Coop Rev 20
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Год назад
Made a handful of changes to optimize the Coop Rev 20 mountain bike for our daughter's transition up from her 16" Prevelo Zulu 2. The first thing I did was replace the cable pull Tektro brakes with effortless hydraulic brakes. I chose the Shimano Deore 6100's because of the reach adjustment range could be dialed in perfectly for small hands. If you do nothing else to your Rev 20, swap to hydrau...

Crashed Into a Tree Riding Quarantine on the Western Slopes

It was my first run down Quarantine trail at Massanutten's Western Slope. I was attempting to keep pace w 2 faster riders that was my first problem. The conditions were really dusty and loose. I ran wide and stared down a tree. It was a mild hit but still sucked. My left forearm and level brake lever hit the tree. At first I thought I may have broke my arm. Even though I was wearing light elbow...

Today I installed a 160mm air spring into my 2021 Rockshox Pike Ultimate fork. This should be the same process for all Rockshox air forks. The Pike can use an air spring as short as 120mm or as long as 160mm.

PNW Coast Bar Install on Giant Revolt
uhhh... that loam grip you're holding up to the left side of your bars is the RIGHT grip. not the left.
What is the IW of the rims?
Did they fit?!?!?
How are the race kings holding up?
Nice walk around mate, I’m the same height and honestly I’m considering a size small. What would you think about sizing down? Cheers for the insights
I suspect Dylan is also willing to risk a bit of frame rub once in a while so long as it's not dragging (and burning watts) because he'll get a new sponsor bike every year and with team support would likely get a new frame if he burned through one in half a year. And he probably feels that the risk is worth it if it gets him a few watts of savings in tires and helps him make the front group in a race. You're also right that his relatively deep wheels will be much more aerodynamic. But he also might have chosen the wheels he has chosen in part because tires will inflate to different measured sizes on different rims, and perhaps the 2.2 Race Kings fit a bit more comfortably in the frame on the wheels he's running. It wouldn't surprise me if this affected his wheel choice in the end, given how much he values wider tires.
1950 ish grams for the set. 1090g R 860g F without the center locks
Good video
I saw y’all a few months back
Hi Josh, I've suggested this bike for a friend who's getting into cycling. Overall, would you recommend the bike? It's available new at a good price, slightly cheaper than a Canyon Grizl with a 2x front derailleur. Thanks!
Best gravel tires
Mine do not flex, but they are not trued correctly, so that the rear wheel is not exactly in the middle of the chain stays (due to incorrect spoke tension). They work fine, but the quality is rather poor (in contrast to the bike itself).
Thanks
Have any other videos of how this sounds on the road and in cabin?
Had that exact bike - that exact bike - with the foam-top seat and everything - I loved that bike - mine was also stolen from me - seems like a common theme back in the 90's - those bikes were like universally desired by all kids - poor, middle class, and rich - I was in the lower middle class category, but I was an only child, so my dad would spoil me - he got me that bike, and I tried so hard to hold on to it - I had had multiple bmx bikes stolen previously, so I knew the danger - one day I went into a corner store to get some snacks, and I took the bike in with me, and leaned it up against a shelf, but this huge bully who I knew wanted the bike, and must have been watching me from some hidden spot like across the street or something - I didn't see him or know he was around - he just came in the store, grabbed it, walked out with it, and rode away, I never saw it again.
Not sure what you were expecting from this test. If they were both new then it’s a good test. But here you are testing a used item against a brand new one which I’d expect the Bilstein to still be slightly better vs a new stock part
Thanks! I bought an internally routed dropper post for my kid's Giant STP. Thought that it had to be setup for internal routing because of the port on the upper right of the down tube but there didn't seem to be a way through once I tried to route the cable. I thought about taking the bottom bracket out but thought surely that wouldn't be necessary. You've confirmed that it is necessary, so I'll be able to install rather than return the seat post!
Pussy
Stupid test!!!
Those must be 520s. PNW doesn’t make them wider than that.
I know dj raced on rk 2.2s. I don't see a good reason to not just go with 2.0 or a ralph/ray 2.1 combo instead
I just put on the XL version of the PNW grips and although the clamp doesn’t bother me, that flared out ring of rubber does. I think I’m going to cut out a section of it like the Trail One grips.
great instructions. Debating whether to buy the C1 upgrade and return my Pike to 150mm or just use the prior version stock air spring of 150mm. Currently has been over-forked to 160mm
I needed this video. Thank you. My daughter gets frustrated with the grip shift and the brakes on this bike. I promised her today when we were out riding I’d figure something out. And you made it EASY.
I'd swap those tyres for something smaller as soon as dirt and branches get dragged through it'll trash that frame which would be a shame as it's a beauty of a bike.
Your bike is awesome. I love everything about it. I got the same bike in the Miami Green color. I just got it 6 weeks ago. This is my favorite hardtail I’ve ever owned in 35+ years of mountain biking.
I agree colour it’s 🤩
Its like saying the tea cup has the handle on the wrong side...
Looks like a fun trail. How many miles long is it?
It is about 2.3 miles (approximately)! It’s a fun trail!!

Ajudou na minha decisão...obg.
I have similar ( minimal) clearance with my Rondo HVRT with 650vx47 VITTORIA Terreno Dry. Also went for protective tape and so far (one long, wet Polish winter) it's ok!
nice presentation! my dream bike and also with DJ approved tires ;)
Great info, thanks for weighing the wheels 👍 I took mine off my felt broam 30 because the freehub body crapped out and was making weird friction when freewheeling, it seems impossible to find a replacement hub body. Probably gonna go down your route, just get a new wheel set
Weird, that's exactly what I'm facing right now - bought the felt breed 30 from merlin cycles. Can't wrap my head around why the front wheel is dragging so much while the factory setup rear wheel spins perfectly fine. Have you tried contacting Felt/the store about it or managed to resolve the issue? Sooner or later, I'd switch to a better wheelset anyway, but having a brand new bike with a faulty front wheel bugs me.
Sounds unusual that the front would be draggy. Sure it's not rotor contact? Definitely take it back to your shop to see what they can do.
I have a Broam 30 and had to replace my freehub body as well. I was able to get one from my LBS for around $50.
Nice build. Are the 29’s you put on there 2.6”? Any clearance issues when riding low pressure? Thx!
No issues!
Nice
Thanks
are you using oval chainring? can you suggest what will be fit on roscoe 7. Thanks
No, I wasn't. I think it was a Raceface Turbine R on that bike.
I change mine once a week. Every thursday 😊
Half-way done my 2nd week!
Keep it up!!
I would have tossed that ugly stem with something else. Nice work thnx for sharing
Looks sick. Great idea on the bars. Did you look into swapping the gears? Someone commented you can go to 8sp 11-34. Curious if hydro brakes are almost too good for a kid.
Imo hydraulic brakes is a game changer if you want your kid to be comfortable riding steeper stuff
Is this on the dyno ? Cause mine took 7 secs 😮
The top flips over to make it smaller for storage. (with the tool tray removed, of course)
You get a like just for the bike. 😁 Early to mid 90s GT...?
Yup it was 95 GT Pro Series
@@JoshTaylor Awesome! 👍
Soft~
These were the most uncomfortable grip's I ever tried.
Its facing the wrong way, the mountain pattern is supposed to be on top.
Whaaa?!
Details like that make it look fresh and clean!
Do not do like this up down. Oil and gas changing places.
how can that cut??? is it that sharp? don't you use gloves? people are so soft these days!
My fingers are made of butter
You have a 1974 Schwinn Le Tour in the 25" frame, retail price new $149. The frames were made by Panasonic and are chromoly steel tubing, which was actually light for the era. Mine was stolen, sadly, and I have missed over the years. Beautiful bike - let me know if you want to sell it.
